6-16-21 THOUGHTS
A SHIELD ABOUT ME is the title of a most beautiful song. Brad taught it to us, but we’ve not sung it since he passed. What a wonderful thought. We try to paint that picture with the scriptures below. We wade through some FIGURATIVE terminology to see the AWESOME!
Ps 3:3 But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.
Ps 125:2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people, From this time forth and forever.
Deut 33:26-29 "There is none like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to your help, And through the skies in His majesty. 27 "The eternal God is a dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms; And He drove out the enemy from before you, And said, ‘Destroy!’ 28 "So Israel dwells in security, The fountain of Jacob secluded, In a land of grain and new wine; His heavens also drop down dew. 29 "Blessed are you, O Israel; Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, Who is the shield of your help And the sword of your majesty! So your enemies will cringe before you, And you will tread upon their high places."
Ps 34:7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them.
Isa 4:5-6 then the LORD will create over the whole area of Mount Zion and over her assemblies a cloud by day, even smoke, and the brightness of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory will be a canopy. 6 There will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain.
Zec 2:5 ‘For I,’ declares the LORD, ‘will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’"
John 10:28-29 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
Ps 46:10 "Cease [striving] and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Isa 60:18-19 "Violence will not be heard again in your land, Nor devastation or destruction within your borders; But you will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise. 19 "No longer will you have the sun for light by day, Nor for brightness will the moon give you light; But you will have the LORD for an everlasting light, And your God for your glory.
2Kings 6:15-17 Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?" 16 So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
My Prayer:
O Lord, you are our everlasting light, may we behold your glory forever. Help us to cease our strivings and know that you are God. We are your purchased possession, O Lord. Help our awareness of your loving kindness drive our motivation to serve you with rejoicing love.
